Wednesday Morning Round-up

BuyOlympia has been one of my favorite sites for unique gifts for years. This is probably in part due to my ridiculously immense love for the PacNorthWest, but it's also a result of the amazing artists on the page and the great eye of the sites owners. BuyOlympia was the first place I ever saw the work of Nikki McClure who is, without a doubt, one of my favorite artists. Every time I see a new print of hers I want to either get it tattooed on my body, hung on my wall, or sent to someone I love. Or all of the above.

I was tooling around on Etsy today and came across the shop Luxe Deluxe. I really like the vintage but still clean and modern look of her jewelry, especially the Old Oak, Mandarin (at right), and Glittering Blossom Necklaces. The work also really appeals to me because of her use of birds, which is definitely one of my favorite motifs for decorating my surroundings and myself. Luxe Deluxe is all pretty reasonably priced too!

On the jewelry front, Lisette Murphy at the awesome Rogue Femme Art recently posted pics of her new bone-style earings and jewelry. For me, these pieces are the perfect blend of the artist's West Coast roots and her training as a professional artist. So realistic and yet entirely hand-created, these are wearable masterpieces. Here is how Ms. Murphy describes the items: "Fantasy adornment inspired by antlers, but completely animal friendly. All are lightweight and twisted and worked into fantastic swirls and angles for earrings, crowns, staffs & cuffs." Check them out and be amazed.

Finally, my very awesome (and newly married - congrats Rebecca and Natalie!) friend Rebecca just gave me a heads up to Cool Hunting, another great design blog to check out.
