Thank You For Saying All The Things I Never Do

Uh oh.  I am unhealthily obsessed with The Beside's Etsy shop.  Wow.  I am pretty picky with jewelry, but some of this is amazing - chunky, unique, and mixed metals.  Favs: The Macha necklace, The Rockwell studs, The Deco ring, The Rockwell ring, The Cale ring...I could go on and on!

The yellow trend is still going strong.

Left: one of my dream vacation spots, the Amalfi Coast.

Sweet glitter globe DIY project!  I know what I'm giving out for xmas gifts in '09....

Check out the updates from Rogue Femme Art: new leather work, a wall mural, the opening of Dame and her spot as featured artist of the month for the store in February!

Just listened to a great American RadioWorks show on an Urban Shakespeare program working with "at risk" kids.  As much as I love the law, I think fairly often about whether I should have stuck with my original plan of becoming a teacher.  Teachers are SO important, and have such an intense, immediate interaction with the populations they are working with, with humans (instead of the so often removed lawyers, working for long term, slow change)....I supposed I could always have a second career as a teacher, but that seems weird after devoting so much time and money to the study of the law.  Nonetheless, it's hard to think of a more admirable role than that of teacher, and they are always in such dire need...

Since moving to Florida, I have seen a new license plate almost every week.  Seriously, it is amazing.  There are more license plate designs here than I have ever seen before: one for environmental conservation, one for pro-lifers, one for lighthouses, one for horses, one for correctional facilities (!), one for manatees (that's for you, Zac!)....oh yes.  And more.  Here is an official list from the Florida DMV and also a gallery of some of the most popular.  Wow.

Heard a report on NPR today about how the recession has positively effected cobblers and other shoe repair places, since people are more inclined to get shoes fixed instead of buying new ones.  I think this is awesome, and it's definitely true for me (especially with high heels! Boston cobblestone sidewalks do a number on those....)
